We named our space Kalina as it is an Australian indigenous aboriginal name meaning “love”. Here at Kalina, you can escape the distractions of life and experience the richness and deep connection that comes from being truly present with each other. Oh, and the psychologist in me loved the notion of supporting couples who want to reconnect to the reason they fell in love in the first place. We have created a private and aesthetically beautiful, relaxed space for couples looking to experience the understated luxury of fine linen, natural textures, local produce, and quality amenities. We think Kalina may become your home away from home.
How Kalina came to be
Andrew and l love the tranquillity of living a short walk from the majestic and stunning Blairgowrie back beach on the Mornington Peninsula and we wanted to create the opportunity for couples who also want to experience the richness and deep connection that comes from being truly present with each other while enjoying the beautiful surrounds of The Mornington Peninsula.

Step into the tranquillity of this picturesque slice of back beach haven and let the magic begin! Kalina is an extensive and beautifully renovated space that showcases modern coastal design, understated luxury and contemporary minimalist flair. We are situated just minutes from the back beach which exudes rugged beauty at its finest. We have sweated the small stuff to ensure your time at Kalina is just how you had imagined. While private and self-contained with a separate entrance and kitchen, Kalina is part of our home so we are here to help should you need. Upon arrival you will notice the bold and striking contemporary exterior which is contrasted by a light filled calm interior. You can hear the gentle sounds of the waves at night and by day, enjoy the benefit of the cool sea breeze. The property showcases native, well-maintained gardens for you to enjoy, creating tranquil coastal garden views. Relax inside with the ambience of the Morso wood fire in winter or enjoy your own private outdoor deck in summer for a drink or dinner. Both indoor and outdoor dining settings for two create the perfect opportunity to try one of our grazing platters no matter how the weather unfolds. Jigsaws, games and ‘private speaking cards for deeper conversation’ are there should you choose, or simply unwind and relax outdoors or nestled inside with a good book or magazine in the sunny reading nook. Kalina features a freshly renovated contemporary bathroom with freestanding bath. We have chosen Italian porcelain floor tiles which blend effortlessly with the soft touch of natural fibre rugs throughout. You may want to bring your slippers in winter though! We know the importance of a good night’s sleep. For this reason, we have chosen a ‘just right’ mattress which we have dressed in 100% natural bed linen from Hale Mercantile Co and Cultiver. The bedroom also offers an automatic black out blind for those wanting a sleep in One of the many attractions of staying at Kalina is its proximity to the back beach. So, when not relaxing by the Danish Morso wood fire, we encourage you to take a mindful relaxing walk along this breathtaking stretch of magnificent back beach. This little secret is just a short stroll from your coastal escape through National parkland. If a little action takes your fancy, the Blairgowrie and Sorrento front beach, shops, restaurants, and cafes are just a short drive. Alternatively, we are quite closely situated to the wineries or Alba and the Peninsula hot springs for those who want to rejuvenate. Guests who stay at Kalina remark on the positive and calming energy that emanates from the light filled rooms.
